From 0 to 96%: How Sue Boosted Her Chances of Securing a Spot in Mining
A woman, like a man, wears so many hats. She can be a mother, caring for her own family and raising a lady who is an achiever. She can be a wife, supporting her strong and loving husband who’s undergoing stress and grief. She can be a passionate educator, imparting her knowledge and experience to the world. In short, a woman plays a wide range of roles within our society. Meet Sue, a superwoman.
Mining Jobs Were The Calling For This Superwoman
As an Education Assistant for Special Needs, Sue is recognised by her peers as a professional worth looking up to, for she generously gives so much of her time to assist everyone around her. She also goes about her work competently with zero complaints. The superwoman in our story effectively supports the complex needs of every student possessing a range of challenging disabilities and learning difficulties.
Obviously, Sue performs exceptionally at her job and she is adored by everyone. Despite that, she bears her own burdens. Yes, even your heroes encounter their own problems too, but what could be Sue’s?
Like how others believed in her, Sue believes that she is bound for more – that she is capable of achieving greater things and reaching out to more people. Despite being loyal to the organisation which she called her home for over 15 years, Sue bid goodbye, with her head up high, knowing that she can aim for the sky, I mean the ground. From being an educator, she now wants to enter the world of mining. Maybe you are asking, “but how on Earth can a woman with zero background enter the mining industry?” Well, to tell you frankly, it sounds impossible, but Sue, the superwoman in our story, believes that she is capable of so many things, even securing a job within a sector that is dominated by men.
The Golden Ticket
No man is an island, even your favourite Marvel or DC protagonists belong in a band. This was why Sue pursued help. She may be an expert in so many things but she knew that time is of the essence and as much as possible, there shouldn’t be room for any mistake – it must be perfect. So, our superwoman searched for the ideal person or people to help her brush up her momentum towards entering the mining industry. That is how she stumbled upon the collaborative team of The Perfect Resume (TPR).
Sue worked hand-in-hand with the experts from TPR to make sure that she at least gets the chance to outstretch towards a golden ticket. While applying for an entry-level job within the mining industry, Sue was also applying for the catholic School Laboratory Technician role. So, TPR’s exceptional writers worked really hard to tailor Sue’s documents specific to the roles and meet her expectations. The team showered Sue with hands-on support on each of her application. Sue provided ample details which each expert converted into gems, making her résumé and cover letter not only turn the heads of recruiters but also impress software and programs. This is how she obtained her golden ticket for her job interviews. But her quest did not end there.
Sue was quite happy after being considered for interviews, but at the same time, she revealed in an email how nervous she was. Since TPR’s goal is to help people improve their marketability and gain the work they love, they provide ongoing support to every client. As soon as it was discovered how anxious the client was, they tried to alleviate Sue’s stress by cultivating her self-confidence, helping her to reflect, and ultimately influencing the way she saw herself. How? Through a one-on-one interview preparation where Melissa, TPR’s Founder, a Certified Advanced Resume Writer (CARW) and a Career Counsellor, shed some light on some common potential interview questions that could be thrown at Sue, thereby making her battle-ready!
