A solutions architect resume should connect a business requirement with an architectural decision. Name the systems and constraints, explain the alternatives considered and show how the proposed design was checked. A long list of cloud products does not explain whether you designed, advised on or implemented the solution.

Write a project entry that explains your decisions

Use problem, constraints, decision, validation and status. Identify the requirement that mattered and why the chosen approach fitted it. Explain your contribution to reviews and approvals, and state whether the work remained a proposal, became a prototype or reached production.

Fictional project summary: “Designed an integration between a service portal and an existing case-management system. Compared direct and queued processing, documented the support implications and used a prototype to check the proposed handling of delayed responses.” Adapt the structure to a design you can discuss.

Separate architecture from implementation

Be explicit about your role. You may have owned the solution design, advised a team, reviewed a vendor proposal or implemented part of the system. These are all useful contributions, but they are different. Enterprise-wide technology direction also differs from the design of a specific solution.

Technical skills and certifications

Group technologies by purpose, such as platforms, integration, data and modelling. Include only those you can explain in context. Distinguish hands-on experience from an evaluation, training lab or certification syllabus. List certifications with their exact name and actual status.

Use performance or cost figures only with a defined basis. A forecast from a design model is different from a measured production result. A proof of concept does not establish that a full system meets every reliability or security requirement.

Share evidence appropriately

If you link a portfolio, use material you are authorised to publish. An original, simplified diagram or anonymised project account can explain your reasoning without exposing internal system details. Remove credentials, private data and restricted architecture documents.

Finish with a focused profile, selected projects, recent experience and relevant qualifications. Check that each technical term adds information and that a non-specialist reader can understand the business purpose of the work.
