Are you looking at becoming a Solutions Architect? They are responsible for assessing current computer systems, designing and developing new technology solutions and integrating software and hardware to fit the existing enterprise environment in order to address the needs of an organisation. You will need to understand how processes, operating systems and application architectures work together. You will be responsible for improving productivity and lowering costs for management, streamlining day-to-day activities for business users and providing a secure, stable and supportive environment for the Information Technology team.
Currently, there are only 764 positions for a Solutions Architect across Australia with a common salary of $160K per year. While it is an extremely competitive role to get into, The Perfect Resume team has helped others to land an interview in the Information Communication & Technology (ICT) industry. We believe we can increase your chances with our resume writing services also!
To apply for a Solutions Architect position, your resume will need to prove to recruiters and prospective employers that you will have the following transferable skills:
- Defining the Solution based on the client’s business needs and presenting effectively and authoritatively to client stakeholders from both technical and business backgrounds
- Writing test plans that enforce the acceptance criteria of features and keep them updated
- Developing proofs-of-concept to validate solution feasibility
- Identifying project issues/risks and presenting alternatives to alleviate or resolve
- Documenting comprehensive client user stories and technical constraints/requirements
- Producing detailed component specifications and translating these into detailed designs for implementation.
- Leading technical analysis, implementation and deployment
- Supporting Project Managers in managing scope variations and risks effectively
Due to the high volume of applications for a Solutions Architect received every year, qualifications that would increase your chances of landing an interview include a bachelor’s degree in the field of information technology, information systems, software engineering or computer science. A master’s degree is usually needed for specialisation in systems architecture, and some employers may prefer applicants to have a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in information systems. Some employers might also require Solutions Architects to participate in certification programs and periodic training.
