Construction labourer resume example
A construction labourer resume should make your practical experience easy to understand: the sites you worked on, the tasks you completed and the instructions or checks you followed. Keep the Australian spelling “labourer” where it suits the vacancy; advertisements may also use “construction laborer”.
Illustrative example: the wording below is fictional, not a client resume. Replace the placeholders and use only statements you can support from your own work.
Profile
Construction labourer with experience supporting [trade or site type] teams. Prepares work areas, organises materials and completes allocated tasks under site direction. Communicates hazards and material shortages promptly and helps keep work areas ready for the next task.
Experience: Construction Labourer, [Employer], [dates]
- Prepared the allocated work area and gathered materials against the supervisor's instructions.
- Assisted the trade team with [actual task], using equipment only within training and authorisation.
- Checked delivered materials against the requested items and reported damaged or missing supplies.
- Removed waste through the site's designated process and left access areas clear at the end of the task.
Be specific about tools and site work
Replace “general labouring” with the work you performed: preparing areas, handling materials, assisting a trade or maintaining site housekeeping. Name tools you genuinely used and the task they supported. Do not copy a list of plant, scaffolding or specialist work to make the resume look broader.
Distinguish assisting from independently completing skilled work. If a qualified person supervised the task, say so. Civil construction, building work and shutdown assignments can share practical skills, but the relevant experience should be clear for each application.
Show reliability without invented results
Useful evidence may include completing allocated work before the next crew arrived, maintaining an orderly material area or communicating a shortage before it interrupted work. Describe the event and your contribution. Only add attendance, productivity or safety figures if you can support the period and calculation.
For labour-hire work, name the employer accurately and group assignments beneath it. Include site or project descriptions where disclosure is permitted, rather than presenting each client as a separate employer.
No construction experience yet?
Use relevant employment, volunteering or practical study to show following instructions, teamwork and completing physical tasks. Label training exercises and personal projects honestly. List completed training, cards and licences by their actual names and current status, then check the vacancy's specific requirements.
Keep availability, travel and transport details factual where the employer asks for them. Avoid adding personal identity documents or copying expired course codes into the resume. The construction services collection provides a route to related roles.
