Describe the fleet and your scope

State the equipment categories and systems relevant to the vacancy, then give examples of your actual work. Workshop servicing, breakdown response and major rebuild work involve different experience. Avoid implying you performed all three if your role covered only one.

For mobile plant and heavy-equipment applications, the separate heavy diesel mechanic service retains that specialist focus. Choose the description that fits your background instead of using heavy-diesel keywords for unrelated experience.

Make maintenance outcomes credible

If you claim reduced downtime, explain which equipment, what period and how downtime was measured. Separate your repair contribution from scheduling, parts supply and other team factors. Completing a job promptly does not by itself prove an increase in fleet availability.

Where numbers are unavailable, explain a specific improvement such as clearer fault records or identifying a recurring issue for further investigation. Name diagnostic tools only where you used them and can describe the work they supported.

Apprentices, qualifications and field work

Show apprenticeship dates and stage, supervised tasks and completed training accurately. List qualifications, licences and tickets by their actual names and current status, checking the vacancy rather than copying a generic credential list.

For field work, describe your communication and handover responsibilities alongside the technical work. Keep customer and site information confidential. The resume should demonstrate your experience and authority without including repair instructions or claiming work you were not authorised to perform.
